The Top 6 Mattress Myths

Please read the following to learn the truth about mattresses

1. Myth: The higher the price of the mattress you buy, the better quality sleep you will get.

Fact: No matter how much you spend on a mattress set, as long as it feels comfortable to you and your doctor tells you that it will work for you then you have made the right mattress choice!

2. Myth: Having the right coil count in your mattress is very important.

Fact: A coil count of 390 or above is just fine for any standard mattress.  The key is that the mattress feels comfortable and that you try resting on it in the store and it feels right to you.

3. Myth: You should use your mattress until it begins to sag.

Fact: The truth is that as soon as your body tells you that you need a new mattress, it is probably time to buy a new one.  But with that said, you should look for a mattress that has a warranty that lasts as long as you think you will be using your mattress for.  For example, if you need a mattress set to last you 10 years then you should try to purchase a mattress that has a 10 year warranty on it.

4. Myth: Mattress Warranties will cover a mattress for a 1 inch sag in the mattress.

Fact: Mattress factories will honor their warranties on their mattresses when they sag down to 1 and half inches or more down from their original height.

5. Myth: You should blame it on your mattress if you turn in your sleep.

Fact: If you toss and turn in your sleep it could be happening because of many factors and not necessarily because of your mattress.  Please click here to read how to get a restful night’s sleep if you experience this symptom.

6. Myth: The best mattress for your back is a firm mattress.

Fact: The truth is that the best mattress for your back is the one that feels best to you.  A mattress provides both pressure relief (the top portion of the mattress provides this) and back support (the bottom part of the mattress provides this) and the best combination of that feeling is what you are looking for in a mattress.  Therefore, going into a mattress store and trying out the mattresses to find what feels best with the combination of pressure relief and back support will be the best thing for you to do in your search for the right mattress for you.
